Thanksgiving is a time for families to gather and enjoy good food and company. Fortunately for me, it also allowed me some time to get into the garage!!!
While the temperature is starting to drop it has been really nice most of November.
The objective was to finish removing the ’76 Royal front end, test out my new Dremel EZ Lock cutting wheels for the trim studs and test fit the ’74 header panel to the front end.
The start of the day was cold and rainy, so I took that as an opportunity to turn on my little space heater, and clean up my work areas. You would be surprised how fast these areas get all mucked up with tools and parts laying around!
Once things cleared up later in day I was able to open up the overhead door and let some much needed air into the garage. You’d be surprised how light headed you can get from a little space heater and 40 years worth of car smells!
First bolt into my work, and it snaps off!
Fortunately for me this is the only bolt that chose not to cooperate with me that day. Maybe all my screaming and f bombs kept the other delinquent bolts in line!!!
Next goal was to get as much room as possible for my arms, simple enough. Lets get rid of the fender to bumper covers!
For every piece I took off the car, it seemed like there was another piece in the way, thwarting any attempts to be rid of her ugly mug…
Finally!!! I thought this would never happen!!!
Now that the Monaco has been dethroned and is a Royal no more, lets have some fun with testing out how the ’74 header panel fits.
Fun with cutting tools…
I recently bought a set of Dremel EZ Lock cutting wheels and boy let me tell you how much I love these things! Put the EZ lock post into your rotary tool, lock it in, and simply pull down on the little tab to allow you to attach a new disc.
NO more having to stop what you are doing to unscrew the disc from the post after it inevitably breaks. Did I say I love this tool???
