Spotlight Install

Awhile back I purchased an old beat-up Unity S6 spotlight on Ebay for a really good price.  I got it so cheap because of the amount of surface rust on it.  I was able to clean it up pretty good and finally it is time to install.

I don’t think I have been as nervous as I was this night!

I laid down some masking tape and measured the distance from the bottom of the window trim up 1 inch and make my marks with a marker.

Honestly I thought 1 inch was too low, but the instructions came directly from Unity when I bought the new 216 mount for the drivers side.  I didn’t want to move it up and risk putting a hole through the windshield.

Next, use a punch to make divots through the window trim and into the A-pillar.  Use those holes to drill the pilot holes to screw the 216 mount into the post.

I used duct tape to keep the mount in place to install the mount by hand.  The electric drill and screwdriver wanted to spin to fast, even on their lowest settings (Could have stripped out the screw heads, screws themselves, or worse)

And now the hard part…

I feel like I should be putting those little digital boxes to blur this out…

I was able to drill a hole pretty easily, but it turns out that my drill bit was to short to go all the way through.  I had to go through from the other side as well.

Making progress, almost there.
Installed!

If I never have to install another one of these, I think I’ll be okay!
