Thanks for reading Part 1 and Part 2 of my On The Road Series: Wizard World Cleveland!
In all honesty I didn’t need to stretch this out to a three part series. Most of the photographs I took could have been slotted anywhere into the other two blogs. But that would have been cheating you and myself. There are a lot of great people, and stories that I acquired over the weekend that I hope in some small way I can convey my gratitude through the blogs.
I decided to go to the conventions because of my love for the move and The Bluesmobile, and I wanted to share it with like minded people. I didn’t get into in to get rich or bilk people out of their hard earned cash for a quick photo op.
I genuinely love to talk to the guests and hear their stories.
It truly brought great joy to see the looks on peoples faces as they turned the corner not expecting to see The Bluesmobile. Some people couldn’t stop giggling. Some started to cry. Some started to have panic attacks! I had to reassure them that it wasn’t the original car!
But my favorite thing to hear all weekend was from people my age and down saying how it was their dad’s favorite movie and they have wonderful memories of watching the movie with their dad and the laughter they shared. They wanted to take pictures of the car and in the car for their dad. Whether the dad’s weren’t at the show because they were working, or unfortunately no longer with us, I don’t know. In the end it doesn’t matter, their kids that had these wonderful memories were jolted back to the time they watched the movie with their dad.
That’s a powerful thing.
I’d like to give a shout out to Lisa, a member of the Ohio Garrison of the 501st Legion for offering us one of the BEST photo ops of the convention. Lisa came dressed as Princess Leia, and sensing a great crossover opportunity gamely took pictures with us as Princess Leia playing the part of “Mystery Woman”, Jake’s gilted lover, which were both played by the late Carrie Fisher.
I personally thought it was ingenious!
The Mummy and The Monkey are a Cleveland based team, both in life and business!, that continue the great tradition of horror hosts on Cleveland public access, as well as YouTube. Check them out, great people!
It really was a great weekend, one that I would gladly do again and will be doing again soon! But like all good things, it must come to an end. It was a really long weekend and it was time to go back home.
As soon as the show floor was closed, we were able to pack up and head on out. It surprisingly took a lot less time to pack it all back up, which I hope was a good sign!!!
I had to get a shot of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame with The Bluesmobile.
It’s approximately 354 miles back to my house in Chicago. Can you tell I was in a hurry?
Thanks for reading! I’ll talk to you all soon my friends!
