October – The month hobbies go to die

In our house, October is all about Halloween.  That means for my wife and son, Halloween is the most important thing in life and all focus and attention must be on  Halloween and none on hobbies (such as my Bluesmobile).

While I certainly tried to adhere to the no hobby rule, I did manage to sneak out and do some work in between all of our festivities, shhh don’t tell the misses!

I was really exited to try out my new Eastwood 12 piece trim removal kit that I purchased from https://www.eastwood.com.  This set of trim removal tools are made of durable nylon and made the job of removing trim very easy and did not damage any of the surfaces of the car.  I was only going to remove some emblems at first, but all the trim was coming off so easy I kept going!

Vinyl top removal was very easy. The trim on the A-Pillars may stay on as they are a real PITA to get off.

Just by removing the trim and the top made a huge difference in my mind on how the car looked.

It looks like November in Chicago will be starting off on the warm side.  I plan on finishing the vinyl top removal with getting the adhesive off.  I was surprised at how soft the glue was after 40 years!

I will also wire wheel off all of the surface rush and use Eastwood’s Rust Encapsulator to seal everything up real nice.  Look for updates soon!
