Laziness has it’s drawbacks…

I have to admit I have been extremely lazy this past week.  I don’t know if it has been the roller coaster weather in Chicago, or the busy work schedule but for whatever reason I couldn’t get my shit together this week with the Bluesmobile.

I was so lazy I ordered 18 gauge wire from the internet instead of driving to the store.  Waited all week and I get this…

UPS at it’s finest

Thanks UPS!  Fortunately the online seller was really cool and is sending me another loom of wire.

What did make it here okay and in excellent condition is the NOS steering wheel.

Never been used

After thinking about it and spending hours on the https://bluesmobiles.proboards.com/ researching the subject I’ve decided to go with the how the car would have looked coming from the factory as a police car and not “screen accurate” Bluesmobile.

My Interior

I’ll paint the outer rim of the new wheel to match the gold/tan of my dashboard and leave the horn pad, paint the steering column and lower dash, including the wood grain satin black.

Next winter when she’s hibernating I’ll pull the interior out to put in modern sound deadener and probably dye the existing carpet black since its in good shape.

The only other thing that I have accomplished was replacing the lock that needed fixing the most! It’s nice to have a door that locks from the outside!

It’s the little things in life!

  1. Good stuff as usual, Brian. I agree with you, it doesn’t have to be screen accurate, make it your own. I also added a passenger mirror on mine, because 99% of people out there wont know its not accurate, and I’m the one who has to back the damn thing into my garage! Keep up the awesome work Brian. Mine will be on the road this year, we will meet up and cruise the southside together.
