I’m getting the parts back together…

Believe it or not, I’m not the only one that has wanted to build a replica Bluesmobile.  In fact, many many people around the globe have done it before me.

And believe it or not, they tend to go from one extreme to another.

From not even close…

To way over the top, almost show car quality…

I will be going for something in the middle.  I will be making the outside look pretty close to a ’74 base Monaco versus a ’76 Royal Monaco.  That means the hideaway headlights, grills, and key other items will need to be replaced with ’74 accurate pieces.  Whatever piece I can’t find used or NOS, I will need to fabricate.

Used ’74 front end pieces are extremely hard to come by, and if you do find them they are extremely rough.

After many years of success the Chrysler C-Body popularity nose dived in 1974.  Between the first oil crisis, the rising popularity of compact cars, and the fact that the “new” for ’74 Chrysler C-Bodies looked like warmed over ’71 Buicks, sales suffered.  Their saving grace seemed to be the ability to handle extremely well for a full size vehicle due to the torsion bar setup in the front, and leave springs in the back.  Police departments across the country remained loyal.

Unfortunately that means a combination of NOS (New Old Stock) pieces, which are pricey, and fabrication.
