After a fairly successful first attempt last year, we held another reunion this year June 21st-23rd in Mount Prospect, Illinois. We were able to double the number of cars that showed up Saturday, June 22nd for the Mount Prospect Lions Club’s Blues Mobile Cruise Nights in downtown Mount Prospect!
One regret that I had from last year is that several people came great distances and it was done in one night. This year I wanted to do a little better than that. So I was able to coordinate with the Hampton Inn located in Randhurst Village (highly recommended) our stay that would include parking right in front! Nothing like a bunch of Bluesmobiles in front of a hotel!
The Mount Prospect Lions Club invited us to Station 34 (Former Blues Bar) for dinner and drinks the first Friday night and it was great! The food was fantastic, the drinks were delicious, and the atmosphere was excellent!
Saturday morning I took the guys that came from far away for a film tour with four Bluesmobiles! You should have seen the looks on everyone’s faces!!!
After going from Mount Prospect to Downtown Chicago, to the far South Side of the city and all the way to Joliet, we had to manage to get back up to Mount Prospect for our police escort to the cruise night!
It was a night I will not forget, and I am planning to do it again next year, which will be the 40th anniversary of the theatrical release of The Blues Brothers!!!
“That’s where they got that Picasso!”
Looks like a GREAT time! Wish that I could have taken part in it with my car!
You don’t need you’re car! Next year come up just to enjoy it!
